Monday Roundup

Welcome July! While we're broiling here in the Texas heat, I'm "escaping" through my old photo albums (that's a photo from my house-sitting adventure in southern France) and a few new books.

What do you do to escape the summer heat? Any good books keeping you company?

There's no escaping the summer heat!

I'm currently reading Plan C: Community Strategies for Peak Oil and Climate Change. It's already added to the book list and I'll review it when I've finished.

I found a new book at the library I'm excited to start, Coop: A year of Poultry, Pigs and Parenting. It's a story of farming in farm country instead of farming in Oakland which was the last book I read, Farm City. It should be an interesting contrast reading them nearly back to back.

Chile - Cool! I've not heard of that one. I'm looking forward to the review...

Kale for Sale - It's amazing what lurks in the library stacks if we take time to explore! Hope you enjoy it!

We finally have some summer heat! I'm reading the new No 1 Ladies' Detective Agency book, "Tea Time For the Traditionally Built." I love these books, they're very amusing and sweet. I want to go to Botswana and sip some Bush tea with Mma Rotmotswe!!

Diana - If you don't have enough of that heat, we'd be happy to share! I've never heard of that book, but I'm a HUGE mystery fan and it sounds right up my alley. I'll have to check it out. Thanks!
